About Us

"I am proud I was a Chichester Player" - Brenda Blethyn, Chichester Observer, 2nd October 2008

Chichester Players is the local amateur dramatic society for Chichester and the surrounding areas. It has a large group of members, ranging from 18 year olds to those in their 80s, and plans to run a number of events for children beginning in early 2010. It also caters for an equally large variety of abilities, with a number of talented and experienced actors as well as those who (like the current Chairman!) rely more on enthusiasm than any acting skill.

Chichester Players put on three plays a year, at Christmas, Spring, and Summer, and hold rehearsals for these plays on Mondays and Thursdays on most weeks between September and June. Both rehearsals and performances take place at The New Park Centre, which is shown on the map below.

New actors are always very welcome to join the group, whether they have years of theatrical experience or none at all. We are also always on the look out for those who prefer to help back stage, with set & costume design, set construction, dressmaking, programme selling, poster design and stage management. Anyone interested should contact the Chairman, Tom Worthen, on 07999 929222, or thomas.worthen@lincoln.ox.ac.uk.

We are lucky enough to have an extensive wardrobe from which costumes can be hired at reasonable rates. Those interested should contact Christine Fleming on 01243 536891, or Judith Porter on 01243 792482.

Chichester Players is a member of NODA, the National Operatic and Dramatic Association.
